How to Access Articles

Many of the articles appearing in the Virtual Journals have full-text residing on AIP's Scitation platform; for these, direct links to all available full-text formats are included in Tables of Contents and abstracts. For journals that have full-text residing on other platforms, links to the Source Journal Abstract must be followed in order to access full-text, using the functionality of those other platforms. See notes in the list of participating publishers and source journals regarding whether a specific source journal resides on Scitation, or another platform.

When you select a link to review the full-text of a Virtual Journal article on Scitation, there are several possible pathways to delivery of the article:

If you have a subscription to the source journal...

You will be able to access the article in the same manner as you would from the source journal online, either through seamless IP authentication for institutional subscribers or User ID and Password entry for individual subscribers.

If you do not have a subscription to the source journal...

Online delivery: You can use a credit card to purchase the article in PDF file format for immediate online delivery through the DocumentStore. A one-time registration process is required, which you may complete by 1) clicking on the PDF link for the article you want to purchase (these PDF links are in tables of contents and in abstract views) and 2) following the "proceed to set up account" link on the User Authentication screen that will appear after step 1. For additional information about the DocumentStore online document delivery service, including article fees for each journal, please visit the DocumentStore Home Page.

Offline delivery: You may also order the article for offline delivery; for the article you wish to purchase, follow the "Order" link found both in the table of contents entry and in the abstract view. You will be given two ordering options -- immediate online delivery, as described above, or offline delivery via fax or mail via a leading document delivery vendor.
